It is about time an artist releases a cd with hit after hit after hit. .because of Ne-Yo, I have been busted singing in the car, shower, and at the office. THANKS, NE-YO.see you at Six Flags on Thursday. This has to be one of the best CD's that I have heard in a while.I pop it in when I am cleaning the house and listen to it in the car on the expressway. What a variety. You can put it in and play it straight through.
Ne-yo's cd is not what I would buy and to only get 2 songs is a slap in the face. I was so disappointed that, I had every intention of sending it back for a refund. I won't do this again. I was expecting the entire CD, instead, I got 2 songs. I wanted to listen to one particular song only and I didn't get that one. A waste of my good money.
But it's a nice, Springy song to listen to in your car with the windows down. It's simple and has a gorgeous, multi-harmonal bridge that's reminiscent of MJ's early days. But what sets him apart is that he not only sings pretty competently, he also writes his own songs. I like this song. Marques Houston used it for TWO (count 'em. two) songs already. There's still not enough there in vocal distinguishability to carve out a niche for him in contemporary R&B. Obviously influenced by Michael Jackson, Ne-Yo delivers his songs with an airy, breathy style that's sure to get you wondering, "Who's singing that." upon the first few bars.
The only thing I don't like about the song is the name of the song. It should had either been called "So Strung Out" or "Sweetest Drug". Ne-Yo is one of many Michael Jackson clones saturating the radio right now (of who there's too many to list). But what he lacks in originality, he makes up for in infectiousness. Ne-Yo, of all people, should know that this name was already taken.
